That was a lifetime ago. Watching the crowd at Times Square with host Ryan Seacrest, performer Lady Gaga, and icon, Dick Clark, is still part of what marks the end, and the beginning of time marching on. But this event doesn't indicate the change that occurs when loved ones pass. They go at odd times throughout the year, sometimes passing suddenly, days before a notable birthday, or after a year of battling a cancer diagnosis.
Chin up - that's what you do when you're the one who is left behind - alive. You have to bury the dead and live for the living. We all must go in our own time - and celebrate being around for another year.
Do your living with conviction and care. Do what makes you happy. That's what I tell my son, and that's what I try to do. It doesn't have to be a monumental thing like climbing Mt. Everest, unless of course that is your passion, but being honest with who you are to yourself, is monumental.
You can always worry about anything, at any time. But the luxury of time is precious, and all the more reason to seize it for what it is. Time is the currency of life. Spend it wisely!
Great advice, Margaret. Wishing you everything wonderful in 2012. ♥
