Is Cain Able?

I have to admit it, I'm actually beginning to like this kind of thing! Following news coverage of the republican candidacy for President 2012 is absolutely great entertainment! For the last year the question of who will run against Barack Obama has taken so many twists and turns through a build 'em up to knock 'em down roller coaster ride that makes cheap thrills seem benign!

From Sarah Palin's flirting with the nation whether she'd would run or not, to Newt Gingrich's resurrection from a long history of being a 'political player' to Michele Bachman's wavering position on gay and lesbian lifestyles to Rick Perry's 'can't remember' moment, only to be toped by Herman Cain's lack of opinion over foreign policy and questionable status of relationships to women other than his wife.

Cain is playing his hand out, over the public's right to know who the candidate is, by deferring to his wife. Perhaps in other countries extramarital sex isn't such a big deal. But you have to admit, the timing couldn't be worse for all the negative PR that's surfaced just within the course of one week - social media, you gotta love it!

In this country people want to believe the person they elect to run the country isn't sleeping around, and even more, they want to believe the leader of the country at least is familiar with the job requirements like knowing the issues and having an opinion. With Newt also, there's much too much loosey-goosey going on in his past. He made quite a pretty penny 'advising' Freddie Mac and it would be safe to say his role as 'consultant' was merely a euphemism for just plain steering.

But Cain's maneuver to 'talk things over' with 'the' missus is absolutely a litmus test to see how dumb people are. This attempt to show he's a family man is just a play at turning the heat off from the philandering rumors. Who will believe this strategy? Well if Cain has his way - maybe many will as evidenced in his latest campaign thrust: Women for Herman Cain. Now the question remains, is Cain able?

For all the entertainment value, the real issues seem to be lost in the fray and that's even scarier than any amusement ride!

  4. Margaret, I believe everyone in America has made mistakes in their past. I certainly have. Unfortunately, if you are running for any type of office, it is going to get strung out for everyone to see.
I try very hard to listen to what the candidate has to say about his plans and not worry so much about what they have or haven't done.
I find it so very disturbing that our American people would elect a man to the presidency that wouldn't even place his hand over his heart while the Pledge of Allegiance was being said, but they would hang a man out to dry for infidelity. Go figure. Apparently, some things are more important to some than others.
For me, his being stumped over foreign questions was more important to me than what he has done in his past.
